According to the most recent report of the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database affiliated with Web of Science, three faculty members of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS) have been included in the list of the world’s top one percent highly cited researchers for the year 2025. They are Dr Mehdi Behlouli, Prof Babak Karimi, and Dr Fazlollah Soleimani.
The three IASBS researchers have ranked among the world’s top one percent most cited scientists. The Islamic World Science Citation Centre (ISC) reported that, in the November 2025 update of the ESI database, a total of 1,142 Iranian researchers were listed among the world’s top one percent in terms of citation counts, three of whom are affiliated with the IASBS.
Dr Mehdi Behlouli from the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, Prof Babak Karimi from the Department of Chemistry, and Dr Fazlollah Soleimani from the Department of Mathematics have been included in this prestigious global list due to the high impact of their publications over the past ten years.
The ESI database is updated every two months and analyses more than 12 million articles indexed in Web of Science, identifying researchers with the highest citation impact across 22 subject areas. Inclusion in this list indicates that the publications of these faculty members have demonstrated significantly higher scientific impact compared with those of their global peers.
The IASBS President, Prof Sadollah Nasiri Gheydari, has congratulated the faculty members on this achievement and stated that their sustained presence in international rankings reflects the country’s strong scientific capacity in advancing the frontiers of human knowledge.
The Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences has extended its congratulations to the faculty members and valued university students on attaining this distinction.
