The Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS) has proceeded with the admission of students for master’s, direct doctoral (master’s plus PhD), and PhD programmes across all disciplines, without an entrance examination. This is in accordance with the regulations for providing facilities to scientific elites for entry into higher education programmes (the regulations of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology’s Council for the Guidance of Gifted Students). Interested applicants were invited to submit their application together with the required documents by 10 May 2026.

The deadline for the submission of documents has subsequently been extended until 21 June 2026.

The Department of Education will invite qualified applicants (in accordance with the regulations) for an interview after reviewing the submitted documents.

Required documents:

1. Personal details form (download file)
2. Identification documents (image of all pages of birth certificate, and national ID card)
3. End of service card (or military service status document)
4. Image of temporary certificate and transcripts of the BSc for applicants for admission to master’s, direct doctoral (master’s plus PhD), and PhD programmes, and for admission to master’s programme. Please note: documents obtained from universities outside the country must be evaluated and approved by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology.
5. Introduction letter form for eligible applicants under the regulations for admission to master’s and direct doctoral programmes (download file)
6. Recommendation letter form (at least two recommendation letters) (download file)
7. Documentation regarding each of the clauses of the regulations that apply to the applicant (documentation such as national exemplary student, first to third place in festivals, and other similar items specified in the regulations) (download regulations file)
8. Foreign language certificate (if any)
9. Deposit slip for 2,000,000 rials to account number IR840100004001086603022542, and deposit ID 392086668001269001234567899899 at Bank Markazi, rial Transactions Branch, in the name of the IASBS’s dedicated income concentration account. The image of the deposit slip must be sent with the documents. The deposited amount is non-refundable.
